I woke up early in the morning today. I was very excited to go to the office, which would be from Sta. Rosa Laguna to BGC Taguig. It was a bit far so my parents dropped me off to the bus station to EDSA Ayala.

Di ako tulad ng ilan na medyo worried sa first day cos I have known a woman, who just recently passed the CPA Board exam as well, who will be also working in Deloitte. Actually magkasabay kami mag apply, and her name is Alexi Balutan.

With Alexi Balutan, the first Deloitte new hire I knew.

As I arrived in the office at 8:03AM, Alexi asked me kung kumain na ako. She hasn't taken hers. I have eaten mine pero gutom ako dahil sa biyahe so I joined her to 7 Eleven. We ate siopao. Arrrgh.. Kailangan ko magpapayat. LOL.

First day, as usual, was orientation. Mr. Angelo started the first talk. And I was like, hey, his my first degree connection in LinkedIn! I was just amazed. LOL. I've connected with him a month ago now and now, I'm facing him face to face. I don't know. Was I starstruck?

Two more ladies talked during the orientation then we were served our lunch. Deloitte is indeed generous. Our first lunch was free. There were different viands. Some got adobo. Alexi and I got breaded pork chop. It was delicious.

A tax partner also happened to talk in front of us. He told his journey as he climbed the corporate ladder of Deloitte. A partner also sang and shared his story when he auditioned in Miss Saigon, one of my favorite musicals. I was not sure how many partners talked in front of us that day but all I can say is that, their stories are truly inspiring.

Parang gusto ko na maging partner. LOL



Here are the key takeaways of mine during that day:

• Kung mukha kang pera, wag kang mag audit firm. Pero if you want an overflowing of training and learning, dito ka.
• After 2-5 years or so, you'll receive tons of offers. Some will double, or even triple your current salary. This just proves that the growth in an audit firm is exponential.
• Tiyaga lang talaga. Wag magpasilaw sa pera.
• Sa audit firm, the track is definite. You'll grow and get promoted kahit ilan pa kayong maging managers.
