Maganda ba sa ReSA? Kamusta mga Instructors?

June 06, 2017

Last 2016, I enrolled in ReSA. I primarily chose ReSA because my seniors told a lot of good things about it. I was convinced so without a doubt, I entrusted half of my fate to them to become a CPA in May 2017.

PROS

1. All rooms have ACs. Ang lamig. Hindi tinitipid sa aircon ang mga reviewees. Feel ko nga nagsara lahat ng pores ko and naachieve ko ang Korean skin in my 6 months of review. LOL. As in no need to bring pamaypay.

2. Magagaling lahat ng professors. Mamaya iisa-isahin ko sila.

3. Accessible sa maraming kainan, bookstores and supply stores. Kailangan mo ng ballpen, highlighter or yellow pad? No problem, may mga katabi itong school supply shops. Marami rin ditong carinderia and what we call heppa lane where you can buy your oh-so-yummy lunch and meriendas.

4. Comprehensive review materials. I attest na ReSA has the best review materials. I am not biased. I was able to use the review materials of the Big 4 Review Centers (ReSA, CPAR, CRC and PRTC) and ReSA talaga pinakakumpleto sa kanilang lahat. Especially Taxation. No need to use text books. Reviewers palang, sapat na.

But in ReSA, I can guarantee to you na ang mga instructors, they will all start in theory then lecture. ReSA instructors' technique is to establish a sturdy foundation of the students saka nila titirahin ang mga examples. Ang mga questions sa handouts, basic lang. Their philosophy is dapat mamaster muna yung basic para hindi magrattle in case na may ilagay na pampalito sa problem.

6. Mabait yung sa Printing Department nila. Just in case you forgot your handout or may namiss kang classes, you can always ask for a copy from their printing department. Marami silang extra copies so isang hingi mo lang, ibibigay nila yun agad.

CONS

1. Fifth floor with no elevator. ReSA is leasing the 5th floor of Colegio Medico Farmaceutico de Filipinas building. Oh diba lakas maka-Spanish. In my case, ok lang naman since way back in college, 5th floor din kami tapos wala rin kaming elevator nun hahaha.

3. Rude yung isang staff nila. I forgot his name pero ang rude nung isang tiga bura ng board. Sinita niya ko for how many times bakit wala daw akong registration card where in fact I got a gate pass from the registrar. I lost my regi card and requested for a new copy pero the registrar told me na gate pass nalang since mag-iissue naman na ng IDs soon. Lol. Hahaha.

4. Ang mahal ng paninda sa canteen. Hahaha Well ok lang. It's still in our decision kung bibili tayo or hindi diba? Contract of sales is consensual. Hmmm yami, lasang karamel!

The Instructors

I enrolled in their weekend sessions. I believe WE session would be the best for me since I wanted to study by my own and just listen to the instructors every weekend for their tips and tricks. By doing so, I can eliminate non-value adding activities and sabi rin ng ilan, karamihan ng nag-totop ay from WE session. So makigaya tayo bes hahaha. So eto na nga. I will reveal to you now the identities of Team ReSA.

Asser Samson Tamayo
Hahaha. Magaling ba si Sir? Napaka. Sir Asser is the best Taxation professor for me. Natalo niya yung favorite ko nung undergrad. He really knows his stuff. For me forte niya ang business and transfer taxes. Yun nga lang, Sir is very strict. Hahaha. Pero di ko naman ito pinersonal. Sino ba naman ang matutuwa na nag-uusap yung clase mo while you're teaching diba. Pero despite that, I still love Sir Asser. Hats off to him. Magaling si Sir Tamayo and his handouts are very comprehensive.

Christopher Espenilla
He was originally my AudProb instructor. Kilig na kilig ang girls. Pogi kasi si Sir. Kamuka siya ni Dennis Trillo. Parang walang pores si Sir, and he's health conscious kaya muscular ang built niya. Sir Chris also handles FAR. Hahaha LOL. Word by word. Definitely Sir Chris is an expert in his field. But I transferred to Mrs. Shirley Irineo. Although magaling si Sir Espenilla, I believe theoretical discussion is meant for FAR. AudProb needs to emphasize more techniques rather than theory so lumipat ako kay Mrs. Irineo kasi sabi ng ilan marami raw techniques na tinatago to si Ma'am Irineo. Kuento ko sainyo mamaya. Don't get me wrong, Sir Chris is a very good instructor. I just don't like his approach to AudProb. Best fit yung style niya for FAR.

Shirley Cordova Irineo
One of my favorite professors! Bagets na bagets si Mam! Kuhang kuha niya ang pulso ng kabataan. Napakalively ng klase niya. Not so serious. Very motherly approach. Ang sweet niya yung tipong pag nagdidiscuss siya lagi niyang sinasabing "My dear students... yung ganto, ganyan...etc.." And as I've mentioned before, Mrs. Irineo knows a lot of techniques in AudProb that she shares to her students. And I was lucky enough to know those techniques. Sobrang laking tulong. You just have to plot it dun sa mga tinuro niyang T-accounts or ano mang mga tables na yun. That's why I prefer her over Sir Chris sa AudProb.

Charlwin "Aljon" Lee
Charlwin, aka Aljon, is a graduate of BSBAA in UP Diliman. He is one of the cuties in ReSA like Sir Chris. I suppose best friends sila ni Sir Chris and sabay sila mag-gym. He is also health conscious. Sir Aljon is the Ian Veneracion of ReSA. Okay, enough for that. Sir Aljon handles MAS. Wala akong masabi kay Sir. Napakagaling. No dull moments. His review materials are also comprehensive. I didn't refer to any text books. Handouts niya lang, sapat na sapat na. Ang galing niya mag-explain. All I can say is, siguradong mababawasan ng MAS ang board exam subject. Sure pass mo na to dahil kay Sir Aljon.

Elirie Arañas
Sir Elirie was my original MAS instructor. Pero Sir Elirie is definitely an expert in MAS. With no formal review. Magaling siya mag-explain. Sa kanya ko na-gets yung reason behind the formulas. Sometimes he derived to you that. Sir Elirie also handles Theory of Accounts during my batch.

Conrado Uberita
Sir Ube is best known as the author of one of the best Practical Accounting One books. Hahaha Maraming technique tong si Sir and I am pretty sure maaappreciate niyo siya because of those tricks.

Marceliano Bonafe Jr.
During my batch, si Sir Bonafe lang ang law professor. Pag klase niya maraming umuuwi. Ayaw nilang umattend kay Sir. Pero ako, I still attended to him. Yes he joked most of the times. Most students kasi, they define "magaling" kung naiintindihan nila yung topic. Pero we have to understand that Sir Bonafe came from a law school. Remember, law is one of the killer subjects in board exam. Diyan maraming nadadali.

Mark Alyson Ngina
He is my AFAR instructor. I can say he is an expert in his field since he was a former topnotcher in ReSA (not sure sa actual). Top 1 yata if I am not mistaken. I attended to his classes until IAS Revenue, then I transferred to Sir Geri because of my schedule.

Gerardo Caiga
Another master of AFAR. He is also a professor in PUP and I've been hearing lots of things about him. Magaling daw si Sir. Topnotcher. So I tried his AFAR classes nung nagkaroon ng conflict sa schedule ko. Sir Geri's approach is concept-based. Magsasagot kami ng handouts ng ReSA then aside from that, may mga pinrepare siyang problems for his class. These questions that he prepared are comprehensive. You can really see his passion in teaching. May group pa kami sa facebook and there he uploaded the questions he made para sagutan for the next meeting. And for sure, sulit ang over time. Kesa naman ulitin niyo yun next meeting right? Kakaumay na. Basta Sir Geri is driven by his expertise and passion. He knows what he says. He knows his field very well.

Fermin Yabut
Another young instructor who is driven by passion. He was my instructor in AudTheo. Sir Yabut is an effective educator, siguro na rin kasi he took education units in UST. Naiintindihan ko lahat ng lesson niya. Sir Fermin writes his mnemonics on the board and pag kinokopya ko ito, eto na yung reviewer ko for the pre-board exam. No need to read other reference na. Sir Fermin seldom cracks jokes. 100% of his time is only for the topics. No chikas. Marami akong natutunan kay Sir. He is also one of the instructors in ReSA who smiles when we bumped in the corridor or twing pababa ako ng stairs. He is friendly, despite his seriousness sa clase.

I would like to congratulate you for choosing ReSA (or even just considering ReSA). You are putting your future in great hands. God bless on your Review Classes and on your CPA journey.
